529 Gift and Estate
Committing to a 529 plan could be an issue for some families. Questions in areas with little concrete information or federal regulation haunt them while deciding what the best choice is for their child's future. While 529 plans may not solve all their issues, recommending 529 plans to parents and grandparents is almost never a bad idea. This investment vehicle can put away literally hundreds of thousands of dollars or more in college targeted investment portfolios while reducing income taxes through the combination of tax deferred growth and tax-free distributions, and reduce estate tax exposure, all with options of making adjustments if circumstances change.
In this course financial advisors will learn how to implement certain strategies around 529 plans, the rules for those strategies, and the potential pitfalls associated with the use of 529 plans. The course also covers estate planning opportunities using 529 plans, and utilizing them to reduce estate tax exposure when working with high net worth clients. CE credit is 1 hour of General Principles of Financial Planning.
